gpx2shp software package provides convert GPS or GPX file to ESRI Shape file, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gpx2shp
gpx2shp is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gpx2shp package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gpx2shp *
You will get with gpx2shp package name, version, architecture and description in a table
